“Blimp”
Description:
The Blimp is my take on the classic mini Simmons shape. It blends traditional elements of the original designs with adapted plan shape and features allowing it to be ridden longer in length if required. This shape is great for riders who crave the buzz of a shorter skatey twin fin, but want something a more forgiving platform for popping up, and greater versatility for a wider variety of waves.
The Blimp is one of my original designs, based on the first board I ever shaped. It’s been a hugely popular model over the years… Shortboarders love it short (5’4 - 5’10) as a step up for smaller, less powerful waves, and longboarders love it long (6’0 - 6’6) to give a totally different wave riding experience or as something to take out on bigger days.
Unlike the traditional shape with its broad hip outline and squared off tail, the Blimp features a more pulled in plan shape through the hip and a curved tail template. This adjustment allows for longer lengths to still remain manoeuvrable by shortening the rail line and narrowing the tail. Careful foiling in critical areas of the board also maintains responsiveness.

Design features:
Rolled belly.
Single to double concave.
Hard down rail in the tail transitioning to soft up rail in the nose.
Crowned ‘S’ deck foil.
Slightly pinched 50/50 rail throughout
Flat rocker.
Futures fin box as standard (recommended for longer lengths) with the option of traditional glassed on keel fins.
Original spec’s : 6’0 x 23 x 3
Available from 5’6 to 6’6, with custom dimensions to suit rider.

Longboards (9’0 +) from £1150 with clear lamination and matte satin finish.
Mid-lengths (7’0 +) from £895 with clear lamination and matte satin finish.
Shorter boards (5’6 +) from £795 with clear lamination and matte satin finish.
Add-ons :
Resin tint with cut laps and cut tail + deck patches as standard = £50 per side on all boards. (£5 extra per colour for abstract designs)
High gloss polished finish: Up to 10’0 = £110, up to 9’0 = £100, up to 8’0 = £90, up to 7’0 = £80, up to 6’0 = £70
Fins are not included but can be purchased for a discounted rate.
