Who is this workshop for?

Whether you’ve had a go at home shaping and need more guidance, or are keen to try shaping for the very first time, this workshop is for you…. Whether you are new to surfing or a seasoned surfer. You don’t need any previous experience or knowledge, just curiosity!

How will I know what board to make?

We will discuss what board might suit you best at the booking stage. Just like when ordering a custom board, we will discuss your surfing, and what you hope to get from your board. We will then agree on your shape.
Firstly expect to enjoy yourself….Shaping surfboards is fun! My aim is to make the 2 days as enjoyable and informative as possible. We will work slowly through each stage of the shaping process, and I will demonstrate techniques and explain as we go so you fully understand exactly what you need to do. We will use hand tools for almost all the shaping. Day 1, we will start at 9am until around 4 pm. Day 2, we start at 10am until the board is finished anytime between 3pm and 5 pm.
What can I expect over the 2 day workshop?

5 Do I have to use power tools?
Not if you don’t want. You will use hand tools for almost all the shaping. In this course you will be learning my own very hands on approach to shaping, with a strong emphasis on hand tools ( non power tools). There is minimal use of the power planer at the start, but this is completely optional if you’d prefer not to use it.
Prices:
Prices are dependent on the length of the board.
Up to and including 6’6 : £1695
Up to and including 7’6 : £1795
Up to and including 8’6 : £1895
Up to and including 9’6 : £1995
This price covers the full cost of the finished board, all tuition and PPE.
Glassing will be in your choice of either a double (both sides) full colour resin tint, single full colour resin tint (one side) with one side clear/white, or full clear /white lamination, and will be finished to a matte satin finish.
Fins are not included in the price but can be ordered during your course at a discounted rate.

Dates are limited due to the one-to-one nature of the experience, and may booked mid-week, or over weekends (including bank holidays).
2 consecutive, back to back days are preferred, however as this is a bespoke experience there is some flexibly to allow for other commitments, and I will do my best to accommodate any specific requests.
Once your date is arranged a £250 deposit is due via BACS to secure your place.
The remaining balance will be due 6 weeks before your course date as will a final decision on the size and style of your board, we can discuss this over the phone or via email.
