“The Slider”

Description:

The Slider is one of my popular models due to its versatilely in a wide range of conditions and fun lively feel, whilst still allowing for good tip time. It comes in two versions, one with a hard tucked under edge through the tail - the HT , and the Original.

I designed the Slider way back in 2014, and it’s been one of my trademark designs ever since with very few changes to the original design. However in 2020 I moved to new spot and new a local break with slower, fatter and less consistent waves, often with a lot of crumbling sections. I found the 50/50 rails produced too much hold in the tail and wanted to be able to clear the sections with more ease…that’s when the ‘Hard Tail’ or ‘HT version’ came to be.

Both versions are popular, but the HT has been a real game changer for folks wanting a nose riding traditional log - with all the glide and easy paddling, but with more manoeuvrability and versatility in different breaks and conditions.

The shape was inspired by the ‘Jai Lee noserider’, and utilises a scooped rail deck-side on the tail. This not only reduces volume in the rail through the tail for more responsiveness, but sucks water more efficiently over the tail of the board helping with hold during nose rides. The flipped tail rocker also provides hold for nose rides, and keeps a lively feel through the back end (also helped by the Vee) allowing for tighter and easier cutbacks.

A great log for all levels of ability.

  • Gently rolled belly to vee in front of the fin

  • Slightly pinched 50/50 rail (with tucked hard edge on the HT tail)
